Woodland Walk Rules

Our Woodland Walk Rules are in place to ensure the space is well looked after, cared for and able to be enjoyed by all who wish to hire the beautiful space we have created. Please read them carefully so that together we're able to keep this facility open for pups and pawrents to enjoy. The rules are in place in order to keep the area preserved, protect all wildlife, as well as keeping both you and your dog(s) safe.

  1. Please pick up your dog's waste and deposit it in the bins provided

  2. Please be mindful of neighbouring properties with regard to persistent barking

  3. Please do not permit digging in the woodlands (instead use the dig pit provided)

  4. Please remain in your car (in the holding car park) until the previous hire has left the premises - reactive dogs use the space & the sight/sound of you/your dogs could negatively impact their experience

Terms & Conditions

Our Woodland Walk is a wonderful space that has been created for the dogs in our care, our clients, owners and their dogs to safely enjoy. Please make sure you read these T&C’s to help us keep the woodland in its beautiful condition. Anyone that breaches these conditions will be asked to leave & refused future use.

Definitions:

  • ‘K9DC/we/us’ - refers to K9 Development Centre

  • ‘Your dog/s’ - refers to any/all dogs that attend the session with you

  • ‘Woodland Walk/Woodland’ - refers to the secure woodland walk area (including the car parks) hired

  • ‘You/Hirers’ - refers to you, the individual, group, business or organisation that has booked the session

1 - Number of Dogs (per session)

1.1  You can bring up to 4 dogs and 2 vehicles per booking.

1.1.1 Additional dogs may be eligible to be added to the hire slot - this can only be confirmed via written permission from K9DC.

2 - Arrivals & Departures

2.1  Your session begins at the time booked, as confirmed via email. If you arrive early, you must par in the holding car park and remain in your vehicle with your dog/s (see Section 6 - Parking & Access).

2.2 If - for reasons beyond your control - you will still be on-site beyond your finish time or run over into the next hire session, please call the emergency contact number (07944 224618) for assistance.

2.3  If you arrive at the Woodland Walk at your designated time to find the previous Hirer still on site, do not approach the main car park or woodland area as they may have a reactive dog &/or an issue retrieving their dog. Instead, please call the emergency number (07944 224618) immediately and we will contact them directly.

2.4 Each session lasts for 25 minutes or 55 minutes; this is to allow a 5-minute buffer period so Hirers do not come into contact with one another for safety reasons - e.g. due to reactive dogs using the Woodland Walk.

2.4.1 If you arrive late or are delayed to your Woodland Walk hire start time, you must not overrun into the 5-minute buffer period or the next session.

2.4.2 You must leave the premises by the end of your session time, so please ensure time to retrieve your dog, lead them up, wash them and load them into your vehicle. Any Hirers who repeatedly leave late will be refused use of the Woodland Walk.

3 - Etiquette

3.1 You must drive into the main car park and close the gate before letting your dog/s out of your vehicle for safety purposes. We advise dogs to remain on lead until they are in the woodland area.

3.2 Please respect the neighbouring properties, keeping excessive noise to a minimum. If your dog persistently barks, K9DC have the right to withdraw your use of the Woodland Walk.

3.3 This agreement does not create any rights over the land and those hiring the woodland accept the Landowner and K9DC always maintains control and possession of the Woodland Walk.

4 - At your own risk

4.1  You agree not to let anyone else into the Woodland Walk other than friends or family members you have brought with you or met on site. By bringing friends or family, or sending somebody in place of you, you agree that you take full responsibility for their safety and for ensuring they abide by these terms and conditions while using the Woodland Walk.

4.2  Use of the Woodland Walk shall be entirely at your own risk. The Landowner/K9DC accepts no liability for the death of, or injury to, any person or dog, or for any damage to any property. We also accept no liability for any losses, claims, actions, damages, costs, expenses or other liabilities incurred by you during the use of the woodland.

4.3 Any use of our agility equipment, obstacles or interactive features is completely at your own risk and you are responsible for the welfare of you, your children and dog/s at all times.

4.4 The site is a natural Woodland Walk and as such has potential hazards consistent with the countryside/woodland areas including (but not limited to): trip hazards, loose tree branches, tree trunks, sticks and some sharp shrubs (Holly), so please take care when using the space.

4.5 The Woodland Walk does not offer any artificial lighting; in winter months, we ask that all Hirers prepare for walking in the dark by bringing torches or headlights.

4.6 K9DC requires all Hirer’s dogs to be covered by valid third-party liability insurance before using the Woodland Walk.

5 - Child Safety

5.1 You are welcome to bring your children to the Woodland Walk, but they must be under constant supervision, and you are responsible for making sure that they do not injure themselves or break any of these terms & conditions.

5.1.1 Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

5.1.2 Children must not be allowed to climb the fences, gates, trees, logs or agility equipment.

6 - Parking & Access

6.1 The main car park is connected directly to the Woodland Walk (please make sure the gate to the car park is closed on departure). Please only drive and park on the hardstand within the gated area and not outside it/on any grass in any circumstances.

6.2 The holding car park can be found on the drive-up to the Woodland Walk. Please make sure you and your dog/s wait in this designated area - inside your vehicle - if you arrive early. Only once the previous Hirers have departed can you drive to and enter the main car park.

6.3 Vehicles are parked at the Hirer’s risk. K9DC cannot be held responsible for any accidents, damage or loss incurred to vehicles or their contents.

7 - Bookings

7.1  All bookings must be made via our website using our online booking system (www.k9dc.co.uk/woodland-walk-hire) and payment is required at the time of booking.

7.2  You may cancel or reschedule bookings 24 hours prior to your session. If you are past the 24-hour cancellation period, you will not be able to reschedule or get a refund for your booking.

7.3 There may be circumstances when we have to close the Woodland Walk - this may be due to severe weather warnings, hazardous conditions in the field or things beyond our control (such as road closures). In this instance, we will contact you directly and offer an alternative session or a refund.

8 - Dog & Owner Etiquette

8.1 It is your responsibility to pick up after your dog/s; please keep your eye on them to make sure you don’t miss any toileting.

8.1.1 Spot checks do take place, and if you are caught not picking up after your dog/s, K9DC reserve the right to ask you to leave or refuse access to the space moving forward.

8.2 Please discourage your dog from digging as this can make our Woodland Walk insecure and unsafe to other users. Instead, direct them to our dig pit (found halfway up the left-hand path; a log circle filled with woodchips) for a safe and suitable outlet.

8.2.1 Any holes dug by your dog must be reported to K9DC; we will then send someone out to come and refill them for safety and security purposes. Please contact K9DC on 07944 224618 and where possible send a photo with the location specified.

8.3 Hirers must ensure all taps and hoses are not left running after use.

8.4 Heavy or harsh handling of dogs is not permitted (this includes verbal treatment).

8.5 Dogs must not be left unattended or tethered to anything in the Woodland Walk.

8.5.1 If any dog/s are left in vehicles, their welfare must be constantly monitored.

8.6 Do not leave litter, toys or uneaten treats in the Woodland Walk. Dogs may ingest them, so make sure to take everything home with you at the end of your session. This also makes for a clean environment for other users and their dog/s to enjoy.

8.7 Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited at the Woodland Walk. Any person found to have been smoking or vaping on the premises will be refused sessions in the future.

8.8 Your booking is for dog exercise only; no barbeques, alcohol or fires are permitted in the Woodland Walk.

9 - Illness & Injuries

9.1 Do not bring your dog/s to the Woodland Walk if they are or have been unwell in the last 48 hours or if your vet has advised your dog to not exercise or socialise with others. Doing so could be harmful to your dog/s and others.

9.2 If your dog has shown symptoms of Kennel Cough, sickness or diarrhoea in the last 72 hours, you should not visit the Woodland Walk and contact K9DC to cancel/reschedule the session. There are young, elderly and vulnerable dogs that use the space and not adhering to these terms will put others at risk.

9.3 If your dog is unwell in the Woodland Walk, you must clean up all mess and make sure that the space is left clean for the next Hirer. If there isn’t a way to clear up this mess, please contact K9DC straight away (07944 224618) so they can act.

9.4 If your dog has a serious accident whilst in the Woodland Walk, please contact the emergency number (07944 224618) after communication with your vet. We have qualified dog first aid emergency canine carers available to help.

9.5 K9DC does not accept responsibility for any sickness that might come on after a visit to the Woodland Walk.

9.6 Dogs must be regularly treated for flea, tick and worm prevention and be fully vaccinated.

10 - The Space

  • The deer fencing surrounding the Woodland Walk is approximately 6ft in height - this can vary slightly in places where the ground is uneven.

  • All gates directly attached to the Woodland Walk are fully meshed deer gates, 6ft in height. The gate to the car park is a 5-bar wooden gate, 3.6m in height.

  • The Woodland Walk has natural reinforcements along the perimeter.

If this enclosure is not suitable for your dog due to the risk of them squeezing through fencing, gaps &/or scaling the fence, then your dog must be on a lead or longline whilst using the Woodland Walk. K9DC will not be held responsible for your dog/s breaching any boundaries. It is your responsibility to gauge your dog/s ability to escape from these boundaries.

K9DC aims to provide a safe space where you can let your dog/s off lead without having to worry about recall &/or the presence of other dogs. Nevertheless, in the absence of any negligence, K9DC are not responsible for your dog/s escaping &/or leaving the Woodland Walk. K9DC does not accept any responsibility for dogs escaping, or any damage, injury or death resulting from a dog escaping from the Woodland Walk. You must ensure that during the use of the Woodland Walk, you act as a responsible dog owner.

Daily checks are carried out where possible as we aim to provide a safe space for you to exercise your dog/s. However, holes or other damage to the fence may occur from time to time due to a variety of factors including (but not limited to) digging by dogs or other animals, falling trees or branches, and general wear and tear.

If you notice any breach &/or damage to the fencing or gates, please contact us on 07944 224618 and where possible send a photo with the location specified. This will enable us to make immediate repairs to ensure the space is kept safe and secure. If your &/or your dogs’ health and safety are at risk in any way, please leave the Woodland Walk immediately and contact us to reschedule your booking.

By using our Woodland Walk you understand and agree to these terms & conditions that shall be in force and effect on every occasion you hire/visit K9DCs Woodland Walk.
